That’s Evan and Renesmee snoozing. On Friday Dr. Melinda came over for a well-goatie check. She had a soon to be vet student with her, and they pronounced the babies healthy and adorable.

Now, we’re going to back track a bit. Back in Dec., baby Griffin got neutered by Dr. Melinda. It was a little later than we wanted, but we had to wait until all the flies had died off. In mid to late November, I noticed that my one doe, Elphaba, who I had chosen not to go to Kid Hollow for breeding, came into season. She was sidling and sashaying up to Fluff, the alpha male (aim high, girl). However, he is very much neutered. Griffin kept making advances, but she only had eyes for Fluff. Since we knew there was a possibility that Griffin bred her, Melinda examined her when she neutered Griffin and decided that she would be able to get through a pregnancy and delivery. (a concern, because she was a small goat with coccidia problems when she was a kid/yearling. She’s now 3, and is almost as big as Rosie and Genevieve).  As time went on, she really wasn’t exhibiting any signs of pregnancy- she hasn’t developed udders- though she’s been getting testy and was eating everything in sight. So while Melinda was here Friday, we decided to go ahead and ultrasound her- and guess what- there’s gonna be another baby sometime in April!
