Hi Baby Enigma
Elphie had her kid today- a little doe that I named Enigma- we’re going to call her Nikki. Maybe. I like Enigma. But back when Rosie and Genevieve were due, Carol had thought that since CJ was named for her, I should name a goat baby for Veronik- maybe call her Nikki. And yes, she does deserve a goatie named for her, but I had names all picked out. Then for Elphie, Enigma just stuck- but we still got Nikki. Anyway- in the midst of all this, there was a problem at the farm I farm sit. They had a ewe in labor not making progress. I had the vet coming out there, and I went back to watch the ewe and meet her. Long story short- I delivered a little ram, and when the vet got there, she went fishing and delivered a little ewe. When I went back at dinner time, both were nursing just fine and all was well. Whew.
Back tracking a bit- here’s a picture that should require a cuteness license to post- everyone get ready to say “awwww.” You ready? Ok, here we go:

Who'd have thought
That’s what I woke up to yesterday. Pretty sweet, huh?
Ok, now back to the goaties. I weighed Enigma tonight and she is 8.82 lbs. Wow. No wonder she looks so sturdy and healthy. For the rest of this post, just pics.

Beautiful Momma
Elphie is an excellent Momma, especially for the first time. She has her all cleaned off, and nursing- she’s already pooped twice and peed once that I’ve seen.

Pretty Elphie and her little one
Did I tell you yet that she has a few black spots on her? I’ll get shots of those in the next few days.

Out of hiding
Since it was so hot today, I didn’t put them in a kidding pen right away. So Elphie would put little Nikki in this igloo, then stand there watching over her (its so beautiful seeing how these does take care of their babies- angoras are excellent mothers). This evening though, I wanted to put them in a pen for overnight, so I had to take her out of her igloo to put her in her pen.

So very cute

Just look at that face!
Thought all was well, but I have a new worry tonight. It looks like little Renesmee got her first taste of Mt. Laurel tonight. (when I get the bigger fence up I’m going to thoroughly destroy that crap. It’s beautiful, but too bad) So she’s throwing up. She should be fine by morning. It helps that’s she’s still nursing, and Rosie is such a fantastic mom, she will watch out for her (though I will be out there several more times).
Whew.
Isn’t it amazing how babies can make poop so exciting?! I love the photos. Spring brings lots of babies, what could be better?
Squeeeee! ::thud::
Wow, definitely a cuteness alert needed. Oooh, Chance is sooo adorable, all tiny and snuggled with CJ, who is still a youngster herself. And all the little goaties! ::swoon::
How is that I’ve never seen pictures of Elphie before? Either way, Enigma is cute as all get out. Babies are so sweet, no matter what species they are. And, to prove my point, how freaking adorable is Chance??!! OMG, I just want to squeeze him!
oh, CONGRATS! (and whew!)
too cute!
congrats! (not on the barf part)
You delivered a goatie! Hurrah! You are amazing. And the kittie photo? I need an insulin shot now.
The picture of Chancey and CJ is killing me with the cute…too…much…cute… LOVE IT.
Kitty love, the nicest kind.
Oh, and E-nik-ma is simply irresistable just like her possible namesake. (suckin’ up for free yarn…ROFL)
AAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!
Okay, got that out of the system. Good job on delivering a baby goat! That is extremely cool.
Hope Renesmee feels better soon!
