Baby guineas. These guys are one day old. O. and I just picked them up this afternoon. C.’s friend is over tonight because she knew they were coming. I’ve just banished all kids upstairs for a bit so these guys can rest. They make the sweetest little peeping noises. They are in a bin right now w/ a heat-lamp- they need a space thats about 90 degrees the first week, then dropping about 5 degrees a week for a bit. Once they move to the outside pen, they’ll still need to stay locked in the pen for 6 weeks to know that it is home before they can start ranging with the big birds. Right now they are small and fuzzy and cute as can be.
I do still knit and spin. Really.
Cuties! I keep meaning to ask but what do you do with all those animals? Are they for fiber? Food? Both?
Good question Carol. Stay tuned… (but no, the only food is the eggs)
